Dear NOINOPIA Friends and Family,

Although our ministry focuses on financial literacy for those in need, we touch on a variety of topics because, when it comes to money, many considerations come into play.

One of the topics we cover is counsel. When you need to make an important decision – financial or otherwise – who helps you decide or impacts your choice? In his book, The Compound Effect, Darren Hardy discusses an important fact about who influences us:
We become the combined average of the 5 people we hang around the most.
Think about that. Who or what do you spend the most time with -- family, friends, colleagues, podcasts, TV, social media… They determine what you talk about, what you read, what you focus on, how you see life. The influence of Your Five may seem subtle but over time, you might be surprised where they lead you. They’re shaping how you think and the choices you make, whether you’re aware of it or not. How does that sit with you?

Seek And Ye Shall Find

So back to our question: When you need to make an important decision, where do you go for help? The Bible teaches us to turn to...
* The Lord and His Word
I will instruct you and teach you in the way
you should go; I will counsel you with
my loving eye on you. - Psalm 32:8

* Godly people we trust
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and
his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in
his heart; his steps do not slip. - Psalm 37:30-31

* Our parents
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and
do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
- Proverbs 1:8

* A multitude of counselors, not just one
Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many
advisers they succeed. - Proverbs 15:22

Take Action!

At the end of each NOINOPIA class, our participants take time to write an Action List – a short detail of what they will do or change as a result of what they just learned. We took the liberty of writing this Action List for you to consider:
  • Who’s Your Five? All good? Or is it time for a change? Darren Hardy suggests keeping company with those who possess the qualities we want for ourselves -- good health, active lifestyle, spiritual maturity, financial stability, etc. How do Your Five match up?
  • If you have a goal you’re working towards – and we hope you do – find people who have already achieved it. Find out how they did it and, if it’s right for you, follow their example.
  • Explore the Bible for wisdom! Here’s a great place to start: The Bible Project Wisdom Series.

It’s a Wrap…

Check out our most recent video: Wise People Seek Advice. Please share it with others on Facebook to spread the word about what we do.

Thanks to those of you who are participating in our Cup for Change Challenge to raise money for NOINOPIA and those in need. If you haven’t joined in yet, you can donate here today.
Lastly, we’d like to share Bethel Music’s song, God I Look to You. It’s a worshipful way to seek the Lord’s vision and wisdom in your next quiet time with Him.
Together with those in our program, we are grateful for your ongoing support and prayers!
